Battered by younger brother, Nollywood actress condemns domestic violence

April 4April April 3Actress, Joju Muse,  who was left injured after her 19-year-old younger brother, assaulted her over an argument, has condemned domestic violence and urged appropriate sanction by the authority. Recall that the budding actress popularly known as ‘April’ on the Tinsel series, took to Facebook on May 22, 2016 to share details of how her younger brother beat her to a pulp resulting in her needing a chest and head x-ray as well as suffering a seizure. According to her, the abuse was triggered because she asked her younger brother to do the dishes. “It was because I told him to do the dishes he left since Friday. And he was to return to school on Sunday morning,” she noted in her post on Facebook. While many sympathised with her, a few other criticised her for publicising her family affairs on the social media.
She noted that she did it in a bid to make her brother a better man in future who will protect his wife rather than assault her. “If disgracing myself and my family by speaking out against this will make my brother a better man and save a life in future and also create awareness against sibling abuse which has led to grievous regrettable circumstances in most homes then am not sorry,” she said in her post. Here is her full post   ” Some people arent thinking right sha…. u got beaten and u posted pics online, brothers nd sisters fight. bla bla bla… its a family issue not a social media thing,u are blowing tins out of proportion!!! oh really? i dont see it that way am sorry. its because of dumb silences we have so many manics roaming the streets causing harm to other peoples kids. Violence starts in a day but the way u handle it determines if it stops. if i had died,it wld av been a differnt story circulating based on family coding and some1 elses daughter becomes the next victim. this is my own way of discipline. disgrace him openly nd let him know its unacceptable. at least i didnt get him arrested nd i ddnt give up his identity and detailed info on what led to the brutal attack cos its all based on parental favoritism and religious fanaticism. if disgracing myslf and my family by speaking out against this will make my brother a better man and save a life in future and also create awareness against sibling abuse which has led to grievous regrettable circumstances in most homes then am not sorry. i love my life nd mio lewaku becos some messed up people think its washing dirty linen in public. he is just 19yrs old and suppose to protect me. what will nao happen if an outsider does this to me? no sentiments! i forgive him. But we all need to kick against sibling abuse cause it leads to wat we know as spousal abuse A.K.A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE” Here is the earlier post: “I regret this day the 22nd of May 2016. I was brutally assaulted by someone I least expect. I cry out against domestic violence, and I will always do. But how does one handle this? When the culprit is my own blood? Today I cut the tie between us,with no regrets!. I ddnt throw the first punch! But u beat me to a pulp. I suffered a seizure nd am to do head nd chest xray all thnks to u. Am not ashamed of this pic,am only ashamed of d monster uv turned out to be. U were brot up in d way of God. In a good home! I wonder how u turned into an end time beast. I forgive u. But u will never be part of me for this. Sme ppl will say it’s nt a social media tin. But domestic violence happens in all forms. Say NO to assault on women! Let’s join hands to sanitise our homes and environment. Say NO to all forms of domestic violence! Av a Blessed week”. Joju rose to stardom when she emerged as one of the  runners-up of the Next Movie Star Reality TV show in 2012.
